**Windows Update** in the latest versions of ReviOS **is not disabled**, so using the **Workspace** enable **.reg file will achieve nothing**. Only the automatic update downloading and installation is disabled, and in Settings the **Windows Update menu is hidden**. It is not disabled completely because half of the OS communicates through this service, for example the Store would not work.

ReviOS' main focus is on compatibility, removing only the most obvious bloat and leaving most things needed by many users intact. Other OSs may lean more towards maximum reduction of the system, removing more components and therefore breaking more parts of the system.

Before installing ReviOS, you should always make backups of your most important data, to carry over to the new install. This applies also when upgrading by reinstalling, or when coming from or going back to stock Windows.

**ReviOS Upgrade Package**

You can use the 'Upgrade' package to update your current ReviOS installation to a newer one. Find the upgrading guide [here](https://www.revi.cc/docs/upgrade)

Only use this to upgrade from ReviOS to ReviOS. Don't use this to switch from another custom ISO or stock Windows to ReviOS. This can cause major issues up to a **completely bricked system**.

Multi-Plane Overlay (MPO)

Is part of the Windows Display Driver Module (WDDM) 1.3 and it is designed to reduce CPU and GPU load when executing multiple frame buffers. Interestingly, the feature has had problems almost since the day it was launched and Microsoft has previously sent out fixes to address those issues.

Nvidia has said users can disable MPO through the registry, but no permanent fix is available from any of the companies. Symptoms of this problem include black screen, stuttering, flickering, and other general display problems.

If you are using an GTX 16xx, RTX 3xxx or an AMD RX 5xxx or newer it is highly recommended to disable MPO, one way to do so is by using [Nvidia's method](https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5157) or by using the latest Revision-Tool.

The fix is mainly for users who you are having issues with scheduler on Intel 12+ gen CPUs.

**How does it work?**

• Prefers to use P||erformance||-cores for foreground applications and heavy load situations
• Prefers to use E||fficient||-cores for background applications
• Prevents parking of multi-threads (don't confuse it with cores parking)

Recommended to run Terminal/Powershell as administrator. The settings are only applied for Ultra Powerplan.

If you are having issues with your graphic drivers, we recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers. To do so, please go through following steps:

1. Use Display Driver Uninstaller to remove the current installed drivers. [This guide](https://www.wagnardsoft.com/content/DDU-Guide-Tutorial) explains the whole procedure (even if slightly outdated).
2. Once drivers have been uninstalled, proceed with installing the drivers you downloaded in Step 1 of the guide above.
3. Once drivers have been installed, reboot your PC. Drivers should be ready now.

Note: If you use a Nvidia GTX 1600, RTX 3000 or AMD RX 5000/6000/7000 series user, it is highly recommended to disable Multiplane Overlay (MPO) after installation of drivers.

**Does ReviOS increase FPS?**

ReviOS removes resource intensive drivers, services and background tasks, like ReadyBoost and Windows Defender, which generally helps with improving performance. You may see a slight increase in average FPS, as well as 1% and 0.1% lows. 

**Be aware** however that ReviOS is no magic bullet that will largely improve your FPS. It can only optimize your system's level of bloat, not improve the performance of your actual hardware. You should not expect huge improvements, only a couple of FPS (in addition to generally improved stability, latency and privacy).

If you want a proper FPS boost, you should consider upgrading your hardware, as this will do the biggest difference.

**There are no major differences between Windows 10 and Windows 11.** 

**Windows 11** can have a slightly better performance in DX12 games and on Intel processors of 12th generation and newer. And if you plan to use anti-cheat systems like FACEIT or Vanguard, you need support for Secure Boot and TPM.

We've also found a slightly higher latency on Win11. See the graph below.

If these minor differences don't apply to or interest you, you can safely chose by which aesthetic you like more.
